Special features: Tormore 12 Year Old is a fruit-forward and elegant Speyside single malt. It is matured in a carefully balanced combination of Bourbon, Cream Sherry, and new toasted and charred American white oak casks. A high proportion of first-fill Bourbon casks supports notes of vanilla custard and ripe orchard fruit. Cream Sherry casks add gentle Pedro Ximénez sweetness and nutty accents, while the toasted and charred white oak contributes extra spice and length. Bottled at 46% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, the whisky has a creamy mouthfeel and retains Tormore's bright, fruit-led style.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe peaches and poached pears meet vanilla custard, vanilla fudge and buttery pastry. Marzipan and gentle sweet spices emerge behind the fruit.
• Palate: Creamy and soft with peach crumble, vanilla custard and juicy pear. Malty pastry notes, balanced baking spices and subtle nutty richness add structure without overshadowing the elegant fruit character.
• Finish: Gently warming and balanced, with toasted almonds, dried coconut, light toasted oak and lingering spice.

Distillery/Bottler: Tormore Distillery began production in 1959 and is regarded as the first new Speyside distillery built in the 20th century. Architect Sir Albert Richardson designed not only the distinctive distillery but also its accompanying village, with workers' houses, community facilities, landscaped gardens, the celebrated musical clock tower and a curling rink. The remarkable ensemble earned Tormore the name “Pearl of Speyside”; its architectural importance was recognised in 1986 when the complex received Category B listed status. For many decades, much of Tormore's bright, fruity whisky went into well-known blends, with only a smaller share released as single malt. Elixir Distillers acquired the distillery in 2022 and resumed production in January 2023 under Distillery Manager Polly Logan. Since then, the inherited aged stocks have also been developed through a carefully considered cask programme to bring Tormore's traditional fruity and nutty character to the fore as a single malt. This 12-year-old official bottling combines that distillery style with Bourbon, Cream Sherry and toasted American white oak.
