Bomberger's Declaration 2025 is a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 108 proof, or 54% ABV. The edition belongs to the Michter's Legacy Series and continues Bomberger's characteristic maturation in Chinquapin oak barrels. Its specific selection of barrel wood distinguishes it from releases featuring other wood or recipe details.

Before toasting and charring, the Chinquapin oak used for the barrels was seasoned outdoors for different lengths of time: 18 months, three years, four years and five years. These staggered seasoning periods alter the oak's chemical contribution during maturation.

Chocolate, floral notes, berries, salted caramel and baking spices combine to create a layered profile balancing sweetness and spice.

The bourbon is bottled without added colouring or chill filtration. This 0.7-litre release is limited to 2,583 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Bright fruit, roasted nuts and salted caramel open the nose with a tension between sweetness and toasted notes.
• Palate: On the palate, the profile moves from floral, jammy, sweet and salty impressions into lingering spice, with chocolate and berries adding further accents.
• Finish: The finish is long-lasting and remains layered. The salty, chocolatey impressions give way to dark cocoa, chocolate-covered espresso beans, dark chocolate praline and the spice of long-seasoned oak, while a brief accent of apple butter brings back a touch of fruit.

Distillery/Bottler:

Michter's Distillery produces Bomberger's Declaration 2025 as its own small-batch bottling. The Legacy Series draws on a lineage of names that began in 1753 with Shenk's Distillery, founded by John Shenk. It was renamed Bomberger's Distillery in the 19th century, followed by Michter's Distillery in the mid-20th century.

The historic Pennsylvania facility ceased operations in the 1980s. Michter's now produces whiskey in Shively, Kentucky. Bomberger's Declaration first appeared in 2014 and has since become a recurring release in the Legacy Series.
