Buffalo Trace is the flagship bourbon of the distillery bearing the same name. Its recipe of corn, rye and malted barley is known as Mash Bill #1. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon matures for many years in new, charred American white oak barrels held in historic warehouses. For each bottling, the distillery marries a hand-selected range of mature barrels, achieving a balanced interplay of sweetness, spice and oak.

This edition comes in a 1-litre bottle and is bottled at 45%. The whiskey is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla, mint and molasses combine to create a complex aroma.
• Palate: The bourbon opens pleasantly sweet on the palate with brown sugar and spices, followed by oak, toffee, dark fruit and a hint of anise.
• Finish: The finish is long, smooth and notably deep.

Distillery/Bottler:

Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, produces Buffalo Trace as the flagship of its bourbon range. The history of this site on the Kentucky River stretches back more than 200 years, beginning in the distillery’s chronicle with the founding of Leestown in 1775. It is regarded as the oldest continuously operating bourbon distillery in the United States.

The operation has borne several names over the course of its history: it became known as the O.F.C. Distillery in 1870, the George T. Stagg Distillery in 1904 and the Buffalo Trace Distillery in 1999. Its present name recalls the historic buffalo trails, one of which crossed the distillery grounds. Its methods include selected grains, mineral-rich limestone water, natural fermentation, traditional copper stills and maturation in charred white oak barrels.
