Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 45% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: No
Special Features:
This Kentucky Straight Bourbon is aged for at least four years in new charred American oak barrels. The barrels receive a Medium+ toast and a level 3 char. Its mash bill comprises 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, and the whiskey is bottled at 45%.
Dried fruit, caramel, vanilla and oak form the aromatic backbone. Soft oak tannins and toasted oak appear first on the palate before the full-bodied bourbon develops a creamy, almost buttery texture with butterscotch. Vanilla pastries and salted caramel define the finish.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Oak, dried fruit, caramel and vanilla combine on the nose in a balanced expression.
- Palate: Soft oak tannins and toasted oak appear first on the palate; the full-bodied bourbon then develops a creamy, almost buttery texture with butterscotch and gentle warmth.
- Finish: Vanilla pastries and salted caramel linger on the finish.
Distillery/Bottler:
Chicken Cock traces its origins to James A. Miller, who established a distillery in Paris, in Kentucky’s Bourbon County, in 1856. Matti Anttila, the founder of Grain & Barrel Spirits, rediscovered the historic brand in 2011.
Chicken Cock is now a brand of Grain & Barrel Spirits. Since 2017, the company has worked with Bardstown Bourbon Company through its Collaborative Distilling Program. The whiskey is produced, matured in barrels and blended there. This Straight Bourbon is distilled and bottled in Kentucky, where it also undergoes its entire maturation.
