Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel begins as fully matured Elijah Craig Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon. After maturing in new charred oak barrels, the whiskey is finished in a second barrel that has been specially toasted. This additional maturation brings sweet oak and caramel notes to the bourbon. The 0.7-litre bottle contains whiskey at 47% alcohol.

Its range of aromas includes pekoe tea, new leather, cinnamon, cedar and a hint of jasmine. Peach jam and brown sugar meet chipotle spice. Toasted oak and toast add to the sweetness imparted by the toasted barrel.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines pronounced toasted oak with rich caramel.
• Palate: On the palate, bold spice and pepper notes give way to milk chocolate, with a hint of smoke.
• Finish: The long finish is warming, with lingering chocolate and baking spices.

Distillery/Bottler:

Heaven Hill Distillery makes and bottles Elijah Craig bourbon. The Shapira brothers founded the company in Kentucky, where its first barrels were filled on 13 December 1935. Parker Beam later shaped the development of the Elijah Craig brand. Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc. owns the brand.

The company's history is closely tied to Bardstown. After the original distillery was destroyed by fire, the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, acquired in 1999, became an important production site. Since 2025, Heaven Hill has also operated a distillery in Bardstown once again.
