This Evan Williams Single Barrel comes from cask #782. The bourbon was distilled on 28 October 2016 and bottled on 8 November 2024 after eight years of maturation. Its mash bill consists of corn, rye and malted barley. The bottle contains 0.7 litres at 43.3% alcohol, equivalent to 86.6 US proof.

The whiskey matured in a new, charred American white oak barrel. For the Vintage Single Barrel range, Heaven Hill selects individual casks and bottles the whiskey from each separately rather than combining several casks into a batch. The vintage, bottling year and cask number on the bottle identify its single-cask origin.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and burnt caramel meet sweet oak, followed by delicate spices and a hint of dried orange peel.
• Palate: The palate brings toffee, cinnamon and baked apple peel, with gentle sweetness, delicate oak and a little nutmeg.
• Finish: The finish is medium in length and soft, leaving vanilla and caramel alongside a lightly dry spiciness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Heaven Hill was founded in Bardstown, Kentucky, in 1935 with the involvement of the Shapira brothers and remains family-run. The Evan Williams brand has belonged to the company since its introduction in 1957. After a fire destroyed the original Bardstown distillery in 1996, Heaven Hill acquired the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville in 1999. Whiskey was also produced there in the year this bourbon was distilled.

Heaven Hill uses corn, rye and malted barley, among other grains, for its whiskeys, along with a yeast culture maintained since the company's founding. The whiskey matures in charred oak barrels in Kentucky. For Evan Williams Single Barrel, individual mature casks are selected for their distinctive profiles, and the whiskey from each is bottled separately.
