Special Features:
Four Roses Single Barrel is the brand’s standard OBSV single-barrel bottling. Each cask is individually selected by the Master Distiller and bottled separately; seven to nine years of maturation and a strength of 100 proof, or 50%, result in a distinctive yet elegant bourbon.
OBSV combines the B mash bill of 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley with the fruit-forward V yeast strain. The comparatively high rye content contributes spice and body, while the yeast promotes delicate fruit notes.
Apricot, cinnamon, rye spice and toasted oak complement the fruity, sweet notes with bright fruit and spicy cask tones.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals dried spices, pear, cocoa, vanilla and maple syrup.
- Palate: Ripe plum and cherry come to the fore on the palate.
- Finish: The finish is smooth, delicate and long-lasting.
Distillery/Bottler:
Four Roses distils in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Built in 1910 in the Spanish Mission style, the distillery building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The distillery works with two mash bills and five proprietary yeast strains, creating ten distinct bourbon recipes.
After two-stage distillation in a column still and doubler, the spirit is taken to Cox’s Creek, where it matures in new charred American oak casks. The single-storey warehouses keep temperature differences between the upper and lower racks comparatively small. For single-barrel bottlings, selected individual casks are separately reduced to bottling strength, checked, chill-filtered and bottled.
