Special Features:

This Texas bourbon matures for at least three years in new, charred American white oak barrels. The 200-litre barrels have a Char #3 level of charring, while the temperature fluctuations in Texas encourage interaction between the whiskey and the wood.

The mash bill consists of 71% Texas corn, 21% red winter wheat and 8% malted barley. A yeast culture derived from organically grown pecans initiates fermentation, which lasts between three and five days, before the mash is distilled twice in a column still.

After maturation, the whiskey is reduced to 45% with natural spring water from the Black Forest and bottled at the JACoBI wine distillery in Weinstadt. The custom-designed bottle takes its inspiration from a faceted hip flask dating from the 1920s. No habanero distillate is added to this Plain version.

The bourbon is available in 0.7-litre bottles, is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. Its style is full-flavoured and balanced, with warm spice and a dry impression complementing the pronounced sweet and oak-driven aromas.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Vanilla, caramel and coconut define the nose. Nutmeg, clove, toffee, leather and honey frame these aromas; apple, pear, jasmine and lavender remain more subtle, while a light smoky nuance rounds out the aromatic profile.
• Palate: The bourbon is full-flavoured and full-bodied on the palate. Vanilla, caramel, nut butter and toasted oak combine in a balanced interplay of sweetness and spice.
• Finish: The finish is long-lasting, warm and smooth. Vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, spices and wood remain present for a long time.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Horse's Spirit Company is responsible for the Horse with no Name brand. The idea originated in 2019 with Alexander Stein, the creator of Monkey 47. The company works with Firestone & Robertson in Texas on the mash bill, distillation and cask management. Leonard Firestone and Troy Robertson have operated the Fort Worth distillery since 2010; their Whiskey Ranch was established on the grounds of a former golf course.
