Ironclad Maple Syrup Cask Bourbon Whiskey
Special features: This bourbon from Ironclad Distillery Co. is made from a four-grain mash of corn, wheat, rye, and malted barley. After traditional distillation, it first matures in medium-charred oak barrels. This is followed by a six-month finishing in barrels that previously contained pure maple syrup from Sweeter Creations Sugar House in Waddington, New York. This double barrel aging gives the whiskey a subtle sweetness and complex flavors.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Warm aromas of burnt sugar, baking spices, and roasted nuts. A fine hint of maple syrup embraces vanilla and caramel.
- Palate: Full-bodied and smooth. Notes of oak, cinnamon, and nutmeg meet caramelized apples and toffee. The sweet influence of the maple syrup is present, yet subtly and elegantly integrated.
- Finish: Medium to long, spicy and slightly sweet, with lingering notes of vanilla, oak, and a touch of maple.

The name "Ironclad" recalls the famous battle between the first armored ships during the American Civil War.
