Ironclad Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 50% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Ironclad Straight Bourbon is made from the distillery’s own four-grain recipe of Virginia corn, wheat, rye and malted barley. The whiskey matures for two years in new charred oak barrels. This 0.7-litre bottling is released at 50%.

Toasted oak, cherry and buttery pastry shape its core character. Vanilla, caramel and honey complement this combination of fruit, sweet notes and cask spice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines vanilla, caramel and honey, with a hint of citrus and a little leather in the background.
• Palate: The bourbon is fruity on the palate, with abundant berry notes, honey and a lightly buttery texture. Bold spice, a trace of chocolate, toasted oak and gentle sweetness complete the profile.
• Finish: The finish is smooth, long and warm, with lingering honey and delicate spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ironclad Distillery Co. operates in Newport News, Virginia, on the James River. The distillery occupies a warehouse built in 1913 for S.W. Holt & Co., close to the site of the 1862 naval battle whose armoured warships inspired the name Ironclad.

The company focuses on bourbon and uses grain from Virginia. The King family is behind the distillery: Stephen King founded it, Owen King works as its distiller and Kara King oversees communications.
