Jack Daniel's Bonded Rye is the Lynchburg distillery's first rye with Bottled-in-Bond certification. Its grain recipe consists of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley. The Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 requires production by a single distiller within one distilling season and at least four years of maturation in a government-supervised bonded warehouse. The whiskey is bottled at the required 100 proof, equivalent to 50% alcohol.

Before maturation, the rye is charcoal mellowed, then aged in new, handcrafted American white oak barrels. Dried fruit, toffee and caramel combine with rye spice. Compared with Tennessee Rye, bottled at 45%, the Bonded bottling has a higher bottling strength and the additional Bottled-in-Bond certification; the proportions of the three grains are the same.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with sweet candy notes and orange blossom, followed by spice.
• Palate: On the palate, the whiskey begins with sweet fruit and honey. Caramel and tea then come to the fore, before clove, ginger and cinnamon emerge.
• Finish: The finish is long and spicy, ending on toffee.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Jack Daniel Distillery produces and bottles Bonded Rye in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Officially registered in 1866, the distillery is listed on the American National Register of Historic Places. Its production methods include charcoal mellowing before barrel maturation and the use of new American oak barrels. When Tennessee Rye was introduced in 2017, the distillery's own coopers were already making these barrels. Bonded Rye continues the rye-rich recipe within the Bonded Series, which also includes Bonded and Triple Mash.
