Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a Tennessee whiskey made from corn, rye and malted barley. The distillery uses iron-free water from a limestone spring for the mash. The whiskey is distilled twice and passes drop by drop through sugar maple charcoal before maturation. It then matures in new, charred white oak barrels.

This 0.05-litre miniature contains whiskey at 40% alcohol and comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, smoky charcoal and oak mingle with vanilla, caramel and almond, accompanied by a rounded fruit note.
• Palate: The whiskey is pleasantly dry on the palate. Caramel, vanilla and woody notes come together with a touch of fruit.
• Finish: The finish is soft and rounded. Tannins and pronounced woody notes give it structure as it fades to a dry close.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Jack Daniel Distillery distils and bottles Old No. 7 in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Jack Daniel moved his distillery to the limestone spring there, whose iron-free water is well suited to whiskey production, and registered the business in the 19th century. He retained the sugar maple charcoal treatment despite the time and effort it required.

After Jack Daniel's death, his nephew Lem Motlow took over the distillery. His family continued to run it through Prohibition; in 1956, they transferred the business to the Brown family of Brown-Forman.
