Special Features:

Jack Daniel's Triple Mash brings together three different whiskey recipes from the same distillery. The blend consists of 60% Jack Daniel's Tennessee Rye, 20% Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey and 20% Jack Daniel's American Malt. These percentages refer to the proportions of matured whiskeys, not individual grains. Honey, malt and gentle oak bring the different components together into a cohesive flavour profile.

All three components meet the Bottled-in-Bond requirements: they are produced by a single distiller during the same distilling season and mature for at least four years in a government-supervised bonded warehouse. Only after maturation are the whiskeys blended and bottled at the required 100 proof, equivalent to 50% alcohol. Since its introduction in 2022, Triple Mash has been part of the permanent Bonded Series. The bottle design incorporates elements of a Jack Daniel's bottle from 1895.

The production of all three whiskeys includes treatment with sugar maple charcoal and maturation in new oak barrels charred on the inside. The American Malt is particularly distinctive: it is made entirely from malted barley. Following early trials, the distillery team chose brewing malt to enhance its malty character, reminiscent of grain-based baked goods, and its full mouthfeel. New charred oak barrels give this component additional wood notes. Triple Mash is offered without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: On the nose, dried fruit combines with the aroma of charred oak.
  • Palate: On the palate, honey sweetness meets spicy rye and dry oak.
  • Finish: The long finish recalls toasted bread and reveals subtle charcoal notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Jack Daniel Distillery is located in Lynchburg, Tennessee, USA, and was officially registered in 1866. It produces all the components of Triple Mash itself. Its range of Tennessee Whiskey, Rye and American Malt allows the distillery to bring together different grain recipes within a single production operation.

Jack Daniel's began developing its malt whiskey in 2013. Under Master Distiller Chris Fletcher, the team applied key methods from its existing whiskey production to a recipe made exclusively from malted barley: the grain solids remain present during fermentation and distillation, and distillation takes place in a column still. The use of new charred oak barrels was also deliberately retained. This gave the malt a character of its own without fundamentally departing from the distillery's production methods.
