When Jim Beam Black was relaunched in 2024, it received a stated age of seven years. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon therefore spends longer in the barrel than Jim Beam Original. Maturation in white oak barrels shapes its caramel, vanilla and warm oak notes; it is bottled at 45% ABV, or 90 proof.

Charred oak and baking spices give definition to its sweet, full-bodied character. Its higher bottling strength compared with Jim Beam Original contributes to a more robust body, while the bourbon remains smooth and approachable.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers charred oak, vanilla and a sweetness reminiscent of brown sugar, with a hint of baking spices.
• Palate: On the palate, the bourbon is full-bodied and smooth; pronounced caramel meets vanilla and a hint of baking spices.
• Finish: The medium-length finish combines lingering caramel sweetness and gentle oak with a touch of warming spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Beam family’s history of bourbon distilling in Kentucky dates back to 1795. In Clermont, Fred Noe and his son Freddie Noe continue the family tradition as its seventh and eighth generations. Jim Beam is now part of Suntory Global Spirits, a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings.

At Jim Beam, a mash of corn, rye and malted barley is prepared with a portion of earlier mash. The distillery uses a yeast culture preserved since the end of Prohibition and distils the spirit a second time in a doubler after fermentation. For maturation, it uses new, heavily charred American white oak barrels. Jim Beam Black comes from this distillery and is an official bottling.
