This Knob Creek combines seven years of cask maturation with a rye recipe containing a high proportion of corn. Alongside its spice, it emphasises sweet cask notes, creating a flavour bridge to bourbon. It matures in heavily charred casks and is bottled at 50% alcohol, equivalent to 100 US proof.

This whiskey is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Its character combines the sweetness of vanilla and caramel with rye spice, black pepper and oak. The 0.7-litre bottle comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, caramel and vanilla combine with deep, rounded rye spice. Apple and floral notes complement the bouquet, with a hint of leather adding another accent.
• Palate: The whiskey is full-bodied on the palate. Black pepper is balanced by sweet vanilla and caramel. Oak and rich spice notes linger.
• Finish: The finish is warm and smooth, with spice remaining present throughout.

Distillery/Bottler:

Knob Creek is part of the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Kentucky. Booker Noe founded the brand in 1992 as part of his Small Batch Bourbon Collection. He took inspiration from the full-flavoured whiskeys of the pre-Prohibition era; the Bottled-in-Bond Act also influenced the concept. These roots explain the brand’s focus on pronounced flavour and robust bottlings, without making the rye a bourbon.

The Beam family’s history as whiskey producers dates back to 1795, when Jacob Beam sold his first batch. After Prohibition ended, Jim Beam rebuilt the business in 120 days at the age of 70. Booker Noe later developed the Small Batch Collection: he experimented with the distilling equipment and investigated which storage positions in the warehouses produced particularly impressive bourbons. Alongside Knob Creek, the collection included Booker’s, Baker’s and Basil Hayden.
