Maker's Mark 101 combines the brand’s classic recipe, made with wheat rather than rye, with a strength of 101 proof, or 50.5%. Soft red winter wheat contributes to its characteristic sweetness and smooth, balanced character. The 1-litre bottling traces its origins to an expression initially intended for friends and family.

The bourbon is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. The 1-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals gentle baking spices, oak and apple butter.
• Palate: On the palate, dried figs mingle with butterscotch and vanilla pod.
• Finish: The finish is long and robust, fading with white chocolate and dried fruit.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, produces and bottles the bourbon. Bill Samuels Sr. opened the distillery at its present location in 1952 and developed a new recipe in which soft red winter wheat replaced the rye traditionally used in bourbon.

Margie Samuels created the Maker's Mark name, bottle design and distinctive red wax seal. The distillery still rotates its barrels by hand to encourage even maturation, determines the bourbon’s maturity by taste rather than according to a fixed schedule, and hand-dips every bottle in red wax in Loretto.
