Special Features:

For the finish, ten seared staves of new French oak are inserted into a barrel containing fully matured Maker’s Mark at cask strength. During the following nine weeks in the limestone cellar, the additional wood contact enhances the notes of caramel, vanilla and baking spices and lengthens the finish without masking the bourbon’s underlying character.

The name refers to stave profile No. 46. The bourbon is bottled at 94 proof, or 47%, and the bottle contains 0.7 litres. The packaging offered for 2026 updates its outward appearance, while the bourbon itself remains unchanged; this is neither a new recipe nor a limited vintage edition.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines toasted French oak, caramel and warm baking spices.
• Palate: On the palate, gentle sweetness, rich vanilla and baking spices create a complex, creamy impression.
• Finish: The velvety finish remains restrained and lingers pleasantly.

Distillery/Bottler:

Maker’s Mark 46 originated with Bill Samuels Jr. and was released in 2010 as the distillery’s first major new expression since the original bourbon entered production in 1953. Maker’s Mark Distillery produces and bottles the bourbon at Star Hill Farm in Loretto, Kentucky.

Bill Samuels Sr. developed the wheat-forward recipe, while Margie Samuels shaped the brand name, bottle and red wax seal. In the warehouses, barrels are moved by hand through different maturation zones and selected by taste rather than according to a fixed schedule. The red wax is also still applied to each bottle by hand. Maker’s Mark is part of the Suntory Global Spirits portfolio.
