The total volume of 6 litres refers solely to the bourbon, which has an alcohol content of 45% in every bottle. The mixing glass and bar spoon help prepare stirred cocktails; the recipe and strength of the included whiskey remain unchanged.

Maker's Mark uses soft red winter wheat instead of rye. The bourbon matures in new, internally charred American white oak barrels. Each bottle receives its red wax seal through hand-dipping. A velvety mouthfeel complements the sweet, fruity character of vanilla, caramel and cherry.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Maker's Mark Distillery is located on Star Hill Farm in Loretto, Kentucky. Bill Samuels Sr. developed the wheat-led recipe there in the 1950s. To compare different grain blends, he first tested them by baking bread rather than distilling and ageing whiskey each time. Margie Samuels created the name, bottle shape and red wax seal. The first bottle was hand-dipped in wax in 1958.

The distillery uses water from a spring-fed lake on its grounds and distils twice in copper equipment. As the bourbon matures, the barrels are moved by hand between the warehouse's different temperature zones to encourage even development. Maturity is determined by taste rather than a fixed ageing period. Before the barrels are built, the oak is seasoned outdoors to reduce bitter tannins.
