Special Features:

A high rye content gives this Kentucky Straight Bourbon its robust, spicy character. The grain recipe consists of 65% corn, 30% rye and 5% malted barley; New Riff uses non-GMO grain. The whiskey matures for four years in new oak barrels with a capacity of 53 US gallons, toasted and charred on the inside.

New Riff bottles this bourbon as Bottled in Bond at 50% alcohol, without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres. At the World Whiskies Awards 2026, this expression was named World's Best Bourbon.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, butterscotch gives way to fresh oak notes. Vanilla and rye spice add subtle accents.
• Palate: The bourbon is full-bodied on the palate. A sweeter vanilla note emerges before rye spice gathers with cloves, cinnamon, mint and dark berries towards the finish.
• Finish: Rye spice carries the long finish. Red and dark berries mingle with white pepper and cloves.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ken Lewis founded New Riff Distilling in 2014 in Newport, northern Kentucky, across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. The family-owned distillery distils, matures and bottles its own spirits. Master Distiller Brian Sprance brings experience from brewing and trained as a distiller under Larry Ebersold.

New Riff uses the traditional sour mash process, returning a portion of a previous batch to the production process. Fermentation takes place in open vessels. The mash, including its grain solids, is then distilled in a copper column still; a continuously operating doubler performs the second distillation. Water comes from the distillery's own well, which taps a limestone-rich aquifer directly beneath the site.
