Old Grand-Dad Bonded combines a rye-rich bourbon recipe with the requirements of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. The whiskey comes from a single distiller and a single distillation season, matures for at least four years and is bottled at exactly 100 US proof. This equates to 50% alcohol.

Rye spice meets sweet vanilla and toasted oak, with citrus peel and subtle dried-fruit notes adding to the character. This bottling comes in a bottle containing 1 litre. It also suits classic cocktails that call for a pronounced bourbon character.

Distillery/Bottler:

The name Old Grand-Dad honours Basil Hayden Sr., a farmer and whiskey distiller. His grandson, Colonel R.B. Hayden, named the distillery and bourbon brand after his grandfather. Old Grand-Dad was first bottled in 1882. The brand's bourbons today are characterised by a high proportion of rye in their grain recipe.

The brand joined the Beam family when Beam acquired brands from the National Distillers portfolio in the late 1980s. The Beam family's whiskey history in Kentucky goes back to Jacob Beam, who sold his first batch in 1795. After Prohibition ended, Jim Beam rebuilt the business within 120 days. Today, Clermont in Kentucky is home to the James B. Beam Distilling Co.
