Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 45% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: No
Special Features:
Pipe Dream brings together bourbon barrels from California, Indiana and Kentucky, with the youngest matured for at least four years. Its mash bill comprises 73% corn, 18% rye, 5% malted barley and 4% wheat. The bottle contains 0.7 litres, and the bourbon is bottled at 45%.
Maple syrup, caramel, vanilla, toffee and oak define the bourbon’s sweet and woody side. Toasted pecans, charred barrel wood, honey and black pepper add nutty, toasted and spicy accents.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose prominently reveals sweet maple syrup and vanilla, accompanied by a hint of honey.
- Palate: The bourbon is rich and complex on the palate, where toasted pecans and vanilla combine with persistent notes of charred barrel wood and timber.
- Finish: The finish fades smoothly with a hint of black pepper.
Distillery/Bottler:
Redwood Empire’s story began in 2013 with founder Derek Benham. Two years later, the team began producing whiskey in Graton in the Russian River Valley under Master Distiller Jeff Duckhorn. From the outset, the company supplemented its own distillates with mature whiskeys from other parts of the United States. This approach provides the background for blends such as Pipe Dream.
The brand is named after Northern California’s Redwood Empire and dedicates its bottlings to the region’s protected coast redwoods. Pipe Dream takes its name from a coast redwood in Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
