Special Features:

This bourbon’s mash is made entirely from Virginia-grown corn. The whiskey matures in small Alligator Char Quarter Casks. In these casks, the inner wood surface is larger relative to the volume of liquid, encouraging interaction with the wood. The distillery handles every step, from mashing to bottling.

Bottled in 2022, this release brings together the sweetness of corn and vanilla with charred wood, coffee and pecan. Tobacco leaf gives way to sweet cherry on the finish. The bourbon is bottled at 50% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers vanilla, corn and toast alongside a chalky note.
• Palate: On the palate, charred wood, a hint of pencil shavings, coffee and pecan accompany a medium-to-full body.
• Finish: On the long finish, tobacco leaf gradually gives way to sweet cherry.

Distillery/Bottler:

Reservoir Distillery was founded in 2008 in Richmond’s Scott’s Addition neighbourhood. After Prohibition, it was the third distillery outside Kentucky to distil and release bourbon. Dave Cuttino is its founder, and Mary Allison oversees distillation. Based on Summit Avenue, the distillery uses Virginia-grown grain and makes its whiskeys itself from mashing through bottling. Reservoir also uses open vessels for fermentation.
