As Woodford Reserve’s first barrel-strength rye release, this edition combines the brand’s established grain recipe with a strength of 125.1 proof, or 62.55% ABV. Its mash bill comprises 53% rye, 33% corn and 14% malted barley.

The whiskey is offered without chill filtration or added colouring in a 0.7-litre bottle. Pepper, clove, nutmeg, toasted oak, vanilla and orange shape its spicy opening. Leather and tobacco complement the fruit notes on the palate before citrus and unsweetened tea define the long, dry finish.

• Palate: The palate brings together juicy orange, clove and nutmeg with leather and tobacco.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, produces this rye and releases it as an official distillery bottling. Bourbon was first made at the present-day distillery site in 1812, and the historic property is recognised as a National Historic Landmark.

Woodford Reserve works with whiskeys distilled in pot stills and column stills, maturing them in new, charred white oak barrels. Elizabeth McCall has served as Master Distiller alongside Master Distiller Emeritus Chris Morris since 2023.
