Special features: This limited single cask whisky from Scotch Universe was distilled in 2016 and matured for nine years in a first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead. The bottling takes place in 2025 at cask strength and without chill filtration, which particularly highlights the aromatic diversity of this Highland whisky.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: An intense peat smoke unfolds, accompanied by the fruity sweetness of blackcurrants and the depth of dark chocolate. In the background, the nutty scent of Brazil nuts glimmers.
- Palate: The strong, ashy peat influence continues, with the fruity sweetness taking a back seat. Instead, flavors of dark chocolate with a higher cocoa content and a less oily nuttiness dominate.
- Finish: Long and dry, almost earthy, with a subtle sweetness that harmoniously rounds off the smoky character.
Distillery/Bottler: The Ardmore Distillery, founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher, is located in Kennethmont, Scotland, and is known for its lightly to moderately peated whiskies. Today, it belongs to the Beam Suntory group. Scotch Universe, the independent bottler of this whisky, is known for selecting exceptional casks and creating unique bottlings.
