Chichibu Ichiros Malt Wine Wood Reserve WWR (Japan)
Special features: This blended malt whisky combines the tradition of the closed Hanyu distillery with the innovation of the Chichibu distillery. After the closure of the Hanyu distillery in 2004, Ichiro Akuto, the founder's grandson, saved about 400 casks. In 2008, he founded the Chichibu distillery and combined whiskies from both distilleries in this bottling, which were finished in French wine casks.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Aromas of red berries, accompanied by subtle wood notes and vanilla.
- Palate: Full-bodied and velvety with notes of dark chocolate, ripe fruits, and a hint of spices.
- Finish: Long-lasting, warm, and slightly sweet with a subtle spiciness.
