Special features: This limited single malt whisky from the Edradour Distillery matured for 12 years in first- and second-fill Oloroso sherry butts. Bottled at cask strength with 59% ABV, without chill filtration and without coloring, it presents itself in natural color and unadulterated taste. A total of 6,402 bottles were filled from ten casks.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Rich aromas of dark dried fruits like raisins and dates, accompanied by notes of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and a hint of leather. Over time, spicy nuances of cinnamon, cloves, and a fine sherry influence with orange zest and oak develop.
- Palate: Full-bodied and intense, with a distinct sweetness at the beginning. Flavors of toffee, candied almonds, and figs unfold, while the sherry influence remains present but balanced. Dark cherries, cocoa, and a hint of espresso add extra complexity. Despite the high cask strength, the alcohol is well integrated.
- Finish: Long and warming, with dry-fruity notes. Hints of bitter chocolate, spicy oak, and a touch of tobacco linger on the palate, accompanied by a gentle fizz and an elegant nuttiness.
Distillery/Bottler: The Edradour Distillery, founded in 1825, is known for its artisanal production of premium single malt whiskies. As one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland, Edradour places great value on traditional production methods and often uses casks made from Spanish oak that have been used for aging Oloroso sherry.
