Special features: This 15-year-old Fettercairn Single Malt was distilled in September 2007 and bottled at cask strength by Hart Brothers in September 2022. It matured in an American oak cask and was neither chill-filtered nor colored, preserving its natural aromas.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Fresh and juicy with notes of citrus fruits, apples, and pears, accompanied by a hint of ginger. Over time, additional citrus notes such as lime and orange, both in the peel and juice, as well as vanilla, develop.
- Palate: Full-bodied and just as fresh as the nose promises, with flavors of lime and orange, white pepper, and sparkling ginger. A slight hint of dustiness and a subtle oak note complement the tasting experience.
- Finish: Medium-long and consistently fresh and citrusy, with a light oak spice and a touch of fresh herbs in the aftertaste.
Distillery/Bottler: The Fettercairn Distillery, founded in 1824 by Sir Alexander Ramsay, is located at the foot of the Grampian Mountains in the Scottish Highlands. It is known for its unique cooling technique, where a jet of water is directed over the copper stills to optimize the distillation process. Hart Brothers, an independent bottler with roots in the late 19th century, is known for selecting top-quality vintage single malt whisky casks and offers limited single cask bottlings.
