Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is uniquely Irish. Distilled in this category, it is produced in a single distillery, distilling a mashbill of malted and unmalted barley together in traditional copper pot stills.
Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is blended from seven- to ten-year-old ingredients. Matured in bourbon and sherry casks, it blends green apple with baking spices, barley, and toasted oak. Despite its 40% ABV, it is not chill-filtered.
For their fruity and spicy Green Spot Château Léoville Barton, the Mitchell family opens another cask: maturation in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks is followed by a finish in French Bordeaux casks. The result, in 2015, was the first single pot still Irish whiskey with this type of maturation.
The complex Green Spot Château Montelena is the second edition of the wine series. Aged for twelve months in Zinfandel wine barrels from the renowned Napa Valley winery, it blends sweet vanilla and orchard fruits with dark fruits and oak spice.
The Yellow Spot 12 yo matures in a trio of casks: bourbon casks, sherry butts, and Malaga casks, creating a complex interplay of cloves and pepper, peach and honey, which unfolds at the ideal drinking strength of 46% ABV.
Description
Spot Whiskey has its roots in the Dublin-based delicatessen Mitchell & Son. Since 1887, the family-run business has matured distillates from the Jameson Distillery (now Midleton) in a variety of casks, transforming them into unique Irish whiskeys. Once the single pot still whiskey reached the perfect age, the casks were marked with a spot of color.Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is uniquely Irish.
