Special features: The Highland Park Heather is the first release of a newly launched Cask-Strength collection from the renowned Orkney distillery. This single malt whisky is made from 100% barley smoked with Orkney peat and matures in a selection of first-fill European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks as well as selected refill casks. Bottled at cask strength with 63.6% ABV. The whisky is not chill-filtered and receives its deep amber hue solely from barrel aging, without the addition of coloring agents.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Intense with fragrant notes of campfire smoke, vanilla pods, and subtle hints of brandy butter.
- Palate: Creamy marshmallow flavors combine with nutty nuances of macadamia, accompanied by a pleasant peppery spice and gentle floral smoke.
- Finish: Long-lasting with sweet vanilla and a lingering, fragrant smoke that rounds out the character of this cask strength release.
Distillery/Bottler: The Highland Park Distillery, founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, is the northernmost single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Scotland and is located in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. Known for using local peat that contains a higher proportion of heather, and for aging in sherry casks made from American and European oak sourced directly from Oloroso sherry producers in Spain.
