Special features: This tasting pack from the Isle of Raasay Distillery invites you to explore the influences of different oak species on the maturation of single malt whisky. Each of the four 50 ml bottles has been fully matured in casks made from a different oak species, including the rare Colombian Quercus humboldtii, European Quercus petraea and Quercus robur, as well as North American Quercus muehlenbergii. Bottled at 50.7% ABV, this set offers an intense tasting experience.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: A combination of crème brûlée and heather smoke (Quercus humboldtii), spicy wood notes and smoke (Quercus petraea), warm fruit notes and caramel (Quercus robur), dark fruits and smoky bacon (Quercus muehlenbergii).
• Palate: Complex array of flavors influenced by the respective oak species, ranging from spicy and smoky to fruity and sweet.
• Finish: Lingering spice with nuances of smoke and fruit, depending on the oak wood used.

Distillery/Bottler: The Isle of Raasay Distillery, founded by Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day, is located on the eponymous Scottish island. Since its opening in 2017, it has established itself as one of the most exciting new distilleries in Scotland. The distillery places special emphasis on exploring cask maturation and its influence on the character of the whisky, which is impressively reflected in the Oak Species Maturation Series.
