Special features: This 12-year-old blended malt whisky combines the smoky intensity of Islay with the elegant fruitiness of Speyside. Under the guidance of renowned Master Blender Billy Walker, it has been matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks, and French oak barrels. Bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration and without coloring, it retains its natural depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Sweet peat smoke, accompanied by butterscotch and warming mocha.
- Palate: Rich notes of heather honey, toffee, and sweet spices, underlined by subtle peat smoke.
- Finish: Long and warming with lingering smoke and a fine sweetness.
Distillery/Bottler: MacNair's is a brand of the GlenAllachie Distillers Company, which creates innovative blended malts under the leadership of Billy Walker. The Lum Reek series, to which this 12-year-old whisky belongs, was inspired by the Scottish saying "Lang may yer lum reek," which means "May your chimney smoke for a long time."
