Special features: This 11-year-old single malt from Speyside has been bottled in the renowned Signatory 100 PROOF Edition, known for its bold bottlings. The whisky matured in a combination of first-fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry quarter casks and refill hogsheads, resulting in a complex flavor development. It was bottled at a high alcohol content of 57.1% vol., which intensifies the aromas.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: A seductive blend of dried apricots, red berries, almonds, and candied orange, accompanied by subtle notes of milk chocolate, cloves, and a hint of cinnamon.
- Palate: Bold and flavorful with notes of toffee, apple syrup, roasted nuts, and a slight bitterness from dark chocolate. The warmth and spice are perfectly balanced, reflecting the influences of the sherry casks.
- Finish: Medium to long-lasting with notes of caramelized sugar, oak, and gentle spices. Elegant yet powerful.
Distillery/Bottler: The Mannochmore Distillery was founded in 1971 by John Haig & Co. near Elgin. Although it is one of the younger distilleries in Speyside, it has made a name for itself with its high-quality single malts. The distillery shares its production capacity with the neighboring Glenlossie Distillery, leading to efficient and flexible production. This whisky was bottled by Signatory Vintage, an independent bottler known for its careful selection and bottling of single malts.
