Special features: The Old Pulteney Port is the second release of the exclusive "Coastal Series" from the renowned Scottish distillery Old Pulteney. This single malt whisky initially matured in former bourbon casks and subsequently received a finish in ruby port pipes and barriques from the Douro Valley in Portugal. This special cask combination gives the whisky a unique depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Inviting aromas of pickled sultanas, vanilla butter, and candied orange peels. Over time, notes of cherry, marzipan, and dark chocolate unfold.
- Palate: Sweet and spicy with nuances of baked apple, caramel, and juicy cinnamon rolls. A hint of vanilla pudding and rose water complements the characteristic mineral-maritime note typical of Old Pulteney.
- Finish: A delicate aftertaste of fruit, warm spices, and sweet plum jam.
Distillery/Bottler: The Old Pulteney Distillery was founded in 1826 and is located in the port town of Wick on the Scottish north coast. As one of the northernmost distilleries in Scotland, its proximity to the sea shapes the characteristic maritime style of its whiskies. The Coastal Series reflects this maritime connection through maturation in casks from various coastal regions of the world.
