Special features: The Port Charlotte 18 Year 2026 Limited Release is a strictly limited edition with only 8,000 bottles worldwide. This single malt was fully distilled and matured on the Scottish island of Islay from 100% Scottish barley. The maturation took place in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks (40%), second-fill sherry casks (15%), and a unique method where 15% of the distillate initially matured for 5 years in first-fill red wine casks from the Côtes du Rhône before being transferred to second-fill bourbon casks for two years. Another portion matured in second-fill sherry and wine casks (10%). This complex cask combination gives the whisky depth and complexity. It was bottled at 52.3% vol., without coloring and without chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Inviting aromas of tropical fruits, followed by gentle waves of wood smoke and warming spices that blend with honeycomb and delicate apricot. After a short time, fragrant ivy, fresh linen, and walnut aromas with floral accents emerge.
• Palate: Soft and round with aromatic wood spice, campfire smoke, and caramelized brown sugar. Rich toffee sweetness combined with tropical fruits and soft earthy notes. Leather, oak, and roasted almonds follow with slightly salty accents.
• Finish: A hint of sweet citrus fruits and vanilla pudding. The distinctive smoldering peat smoke of Port Charlotte and a light sea breeze linger long in the finish.

Distillery/Bottler: The Bruichladdich Distillery, founded in 1881 on the Scottish island of Islay, is known for its innovative approaches to whisky production. After a six-year closure, the distillery reopened in 2001 and has since produced a variety of bottlings, including the peated Port Charlotte whiskies.
