Special features: On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, Stauning Whisky returns to its roots and presents a limited edition that honors the beginnings of Danish whisky production. This bottling combines 50% unpeated and 50% peated single malts, which matured for at least ten years in a combination of bourbon, virgin oak, port, and sherry casks. The peat sources used originally come from the historic bog Bølling Sø, one of the oldest areas in Denmark known for peat production in the early 20th century.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Gentle sweetness with smoky notes, accompanied by aromas of ripe fruits like pear and apple, complemented by vanilla and fresh hay.
- Palate: Full-bodied and malty, with layers of dried fruits, cherry, dark chocolate, and spiced oak. The smoke is present, yet balanced by sweetness and fruitiness.
- Finish: Long and warm, with lingering smoke, notes of campfire, and a hint of salty minerality.
Distillery/Bottler: Stauning Whisky was founded in 2005 by nine friends in a former slaughterhouse in the Danish town of Stauning. From the beginning, they relied on traditional methods and local ingredients to create authentic Danish whiskies. The 20th anniversary edition reflects the pioneering work and experimental spirit that has characterized Stauning Whisky from the start.
