Tan Cho Japanese Whisky Mizunara Cask

Special features: This Japanese single malt whisky was distilled in the secret distillery in eastern Hokkaido and aged for over three years in selected casks. It was then refined in rare Mizunara oak barrels, which give the whisky its characteristic aromas. With a strong alcohol content of 55% and the decision to forgo chill filtration and coloring, the natural purity of the distillate is preserved.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Ripe honeydew melon, caramel, and almonds.
  • Palate: Soft sweetness of bananas, gentle waves of caramel, and fresh herbal notes.
  • Finish: Bittersweet chocolate, orange, and pleasantly lingering smoky and peaty notes.

Distillery/Bottler: The Tan Cho single malt whisky is bottled by the renowned sake brewery Hakutsuru. Hakutsuru, founded in 1743 in Hyogo Prefecture, is known for its high-quality sake products and has also made a name for itself in whisky production in recent years. A secret distillery in eastern Hokkaido, whose name is not disclosed, was selected for the Tan Cho whisky.
