Special features: This extraordinary project marks the first foray of independent bottler Sebastian Büssing (The Spirits Alchemist) into the world of Irish whiskey. Five single malt whiskeys have been created with experimental virgin wood finishes – including the Chequertree Wood Finish, which was bottled in a limited edition of 91 bottles after a twelve-month finishing in a handcrafted 50-liter serviceberry wood cask.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Fresh green hazelnuts, grassy notes, spicy herbs, honeydew melon, shortbread, forest honey, and a hint of rice pudding
- Palate: Sweet fruits, honey, vanilla pudding, nutty nuances, and the typical shortbread sweetness
- Finish: Medium-long, creamy-sweet, and bright fruity
