Special features: This blended whisky from Japan impresses with its innovative maturation. After aging in bourbon barrels, it undergoes a six-month finish in IPA beer barrels, giving it a unique aroma. The bottling is done without chill filtration to preserve the natural characteristics of the whisky.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Fresh citrus notes and grain aromas, accompanied by a subtle malt sweetness.
- Palate: Full-bodied with flavors of hops, spices, and cornflakes, complemented by sweet honey notes and a hint of nuts.
- Finish: Medium-length and balanced, with a lingering sweet-bitter note.
Distillery/Bottler: The Chugoku Jozo Distillery, founded in 1918, is known for its sake, liqueur, and shochu production. Since 1990, the company has also dedicated itself to producing blended whisky under the Togouchi branding. The maturation takes place in a decommissioned railway tunnel in the mountainous region of Nishi-Chugoku Sanchi, which provides ideal conditions with constant temperature and high humidity.
