Special features: This blended Irish whiskey combines 66% grain and 34% malt whiskey, which initially matured for three years in first-fill bourbon casks. This was followed by a one-year finishing in heavily charred bourbon casks, resulting in a harmonious flavor with intense vanilla and caramel notes.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Sweet vanilla, burnt sugar, and soft fruit notes, accompanied by oak and delicate roasted aromas.
- Palate: Lush and smooth with strong, rounded sweetness, rich vanilla flavors, buttery caramel, and a hint of maltiness.
- Finish: Medium-long, sweet and vanilla-spicy.
Distillery/Bottler: West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 by friends John O'Connell, Denis McCarthy, and Ger McCarthy in Union Hall, County Cork, Ireland. Inspired by the rich tradition of artisanal food and beverage production in the region, they produce a variety of whiskeys, including the West Cork Black Cask.
