West Cork Bog Oak Charred Cask 0.7 l

Special features: The West Cork Bog Oak Charred Cask Whisky is produced in Ireland by West Cork Distillers. It initially matures in sherry casks and then undergoes a finishing period of four to six months in casks charred with peat. This special method gives it characteristic aromas. The distillery, founded in 2003, is located in Skibbereen, County Cork, and uses local Irish grain for whiskey production.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The nose combines spice, dried leather, and a sweet, dried fruit background. There are also slightly spicy notes of apple, licorice, and hints of peach.
  • Palate: The palate presents itself intensely spicy with malt and ground pepper. A fruity note, paired with smoke and oak undertones, rounds off the tasting experience.
  • Finish: The finish is characterized by an interesting combination of the previous notes, maintaining the tension until the end.

Distillery/Bottler: West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 by John O'Connell and his cousins Ger and Denis McCarthy. The distillery is located in Skibbereen, County Cork, Ireland, and has a production capacity of nearly 16.5 million liters of alcohol annually. It operates 16 pot stills and 3 column stills. High-quality Irish grain is used for whiskey production, which is processed in its own mill.
