Special Features:

Maturation entirely in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask shapes this Oude Genever from Zuidam. Rather than providing a final finish, the PX cask accompanies the spirit throughout its five years of ageing. The sherry sweetness meets a pronounced citrus character, which also counterbalances the darker fruit notes.

Malted barley, maize and rye form the base and are distilled in copper pot stills. The genever was distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2025. It comes from a single cask numbered 19B040.

The bottling has an alcohol content of 38% and is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Each bottle contains 1 litre; gift packaging is not included.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Immediately after pouring, the genever has a fresh, delicate aroma. With a little time in the glass, the bouquet gains depth: dark chocolate, liquorice and dried fruit complement the sweet PX notes. Lemon and lime keep the warmer aromas in balance.
• Palate: On the palate, the genever is lush and rich. Citrus notes balance the PX sweetness and mingle with warm dried-fruit flavours. Spice and a pleasant bitterness complement the flavour in the background.
• Finish: The long finish remains lush and fades with a delicate, pleasant sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Zuidam is an independent family distillery in Baarle-Nassau in the Netherlands. The company has been family-run since 1975 and is now led by the second generation. Fred and Patrick van Zuidam have shaped the development of its recipes. Alongside genever, the distillery also produces gin, whisky and liqueurs.

The distillery makes its distillates and extracts in-house and carries out their further processing on site. Natural ingredients form the foundation; no artificial fragrances, colours or flavourings are used. For this genever, Zuidam combines grain distillation in copper pot stills with maturation entirely in a PX sherry cask.
