Special Features:

Double distillation and bottling without dilution shape the character of La Perle Fine. For this white rhum agricole, the sugarcane is cut by hand and pressed just once. The fresh juice ferments for five to seven days before being distilled twice in a copper still, with several days between distillations.

The rum is bottled at its natural distillation strength of 67.5%. The sugarcane is organically grown. Despite its high strength, La Perle Fine has a soft, creamy palate with pear, white peach and floral accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The expressive nose recalls freshly pressed sugarcane and ripe white-fleshed fruit.
• Palate: The opening is soft and creamy. Pear, white peach and floral notes shape the rounded palate.
• Finish: The flavour of fresh sugarcane lingers through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

A1710 produces its rum at Habitation du Simon on Martinique. The distillery occupies a restored 18th-century building formerly used in sugar production. Its copper Charentais still, named La Belle Aline, combines a pot still with a seven-plate column, also made of copper.

For its white rhums, the distillery processes both its own sugarcane and deliveries from neighbouring smallholders. The hand-harvested stalks are pressed in a three-roller mill on the same day to preserve the freshness of the juice and limit oxidation. During the subsequent slow fermentation, A1710 uses cooled tanks and selected yeasts. The white rhums are also bottled on the estate.
