Special Features:

A finish in Sangiovese wine casks adds a fruity dimension to this limited Aberfeldy release without obscuring the distillery’s honey-led character. The 18-year-old Highland single malt first matured in refill casks and hogsheads before moving to first-fill Sangiovese casks from Valdarno di Sopra in Tuscany. Red fruit, delicate spice and subtle tannins accompany the honey notes. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, juicy red berries and dark cherries mingle with baked apple and heather honey. Red plums, candied orange peel, honey-soaked figs and violets follow, joined by sandalwood, nutmeg, clove and vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, red fruit compote and rich malt meet dark chocolate, clove, toasted hazelnut and heather honey.
• Finish: The long finish leaves a fruity impression of gentle spice, oak and cherry liqueur.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1898, Aberfeldy Distillery stands near Aberfeldy in Scotland’s Central Highlands and draws its water from the Pitilie Burn. Extended fermentation and slow distillation in copper stills are part of its approach and help shape its honey-led house style. Bacardi Limited operates the distillery, while Malt Master Stephanie Macleod is responsible for this edition’s Sangiovese finish.
