Achill Island Single Malt Peated Cask Strength Whiskey 0.7 l
Special features: The Achill Island Single Malt Peated Cask Strength Whiskey comes from the Achill Island Distillery, the first and only island distillery in Ireland located in County Mayo. Founded in 2015 by John McKay and his sons Sean and Michael, the distillery is fully Irish-owned and family-run. This whiskey is aged in bourbon casks and bottled at 60% vol. cask strength. It is presented without chill filtration and without colorings to preserve the natural flavor. This is the first peated single malt that has been distilled, aged, and bottled on an island.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Gentle, inviting notes of peat smoke combined with sweet malt and caramel, reminiscent of the moorlands of Achill Island.
- Palate: On the palate, it is soft and sweet with delicate smokiness from the casks, complemented by a smooth malt character and a warming, tingling heat from the cask strength.
- Finish: A well-balanced, smoky, drying, and slightly tingling finish that highlights the cask strength without overshadowing the flavors.
