For Argument: Sweet Toast, Agitator combines whisky from rare Sweet Toast casks with whisky matured in Sauternes casks. The new American oak casks contribute gentle, sweet toasted notes, while the Sauternes component balances that sweetness. Vanilla, tropical fruit and toasted nuts shape the aromas; tannins and a little smoke give the palate structure.

This Swedish single malt is a distillery bottling at 46% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. The bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings vanilla, honeydew melon, pineapple, mango and mandarin peel. Toasted nuts also evoke orange chocolate and marzipan.
• Palate: On the palate, pronounced tannins and a measure of smoke give the whisky body, alongside a suggestion of a cigar box.
• Finish: The long finish combines ripe sweet-and-sour fruit with toasted bread, chocolate and leather.

Distillery/Bottler:

Agitator Distillery AB operates the distillery in Arboga and is behind the Agitator brand. Distillation, cask maturation and bottling all take place there under one roof. The distillery wet-mills its malt and ferments the whisky wort for seven days. Four copper stills arranged in two pairs of different heights allow it to produce different styles of spirit. For vacuum distillation, Agitator lowers the pressure and thus the boiling temperature; the distillery uses pressure and distillation speed to shape the spirit’s character.
