Special Features:

This Indian single malt matured entirely in a Port Pipe. Amrut distilled it in November 2014 and bottled it from cask 3879 in July 2023, after just over eight years. The single-cask release comprises 528 bottles at 60%; the whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. It comes in gift packaging.

Grapes, cooked fruit and strawberries give the profile its rich fruit character, while mango, guava and candied apricot bring a tropical dimension. Malt, chocolate, walnut and praline add depth; mint, bitter orange, pistachio and rose petals provide fresh, floral accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Grapes and a vegetal note of gum arabic appear first on the nose. With a little air, cooked fruit, strawberry and apricot emerge; barley malt with chocolate notes then comes to the fore.
• Palate: The whisky is lively on the palate: mango, guava and candied apricot mingle with vanilla, pear and walnut. Praline and chocolate follow, along with a subtle liquorice note.
• Finish: The long, silky finish brings together mint and bitter orange with pistachio and rose petals. Turkish delight, a creamy pastry note and lychee also linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

J.N. Radhakrishna founded Amrut in Bengaluru in 1948 as Amrut Laboratories. Rakshit N. Jagdale now leads the family business in its third generation; in 2004, Amrut introduced its Indian single malt internationally in Glasgow. The barley for this release came from the northern Indian states of Punjab and Rajasthan and was malted at the distillery. In Bengaluru’s tropical climate, the whisky then matured entirely in the Port Pipe before Amrut bottled it.
