Bottled undiluted at 61.8%, Amrut Cask Strength expresses the robust house style of barley, bourbon-cask notes and an oily texture without being reduced to drinking strength.

Caramelised biscuit and coffee complement the bittersweet combination of barley and oak. Blood orange and buttery notes provide a contrast, while dark sugar and cocoa add subtle accents to the finish.

As an official distillery bottling, it forms part of Amrut's Indian core range. A little water can bring out the stone-fruit and biscuit notes. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in a metal tin.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, pronounced bourbon-cask notes and rich barley malt combine with caramelised biscuit, coffee and a spicy note.
• Palate: Oak and barley create a bittersweet opening on the palate. A soft, oily texture is followed by a distinctive blood-orange accent, which then gives way to subtler buttery notes.
• Finish: The finish is long and elegant. The oak fades with shifting bourbon notes before buttery impressions emerge; traces of dark sugar and cocoa accompany the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Amrut Distilleries was founded in Bangalore in 1948 by Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, initially under the name Amrut Laboratories. The regional spirits business developed into an internationally recognised producer of Indian single malts. Following the founder's death, his son Shri Neelakanta Rao Jagdale took over in 1976 and led the company into international markets.

Amrut opened a site in Kumbalgodu in 1986. Development of its single malt took concrete shape with a feasibility study in 2002; Amrut Single Malt was introduced in Glasgow in 2004. Maturation in a tropical climate is an important aspect of the distillery's work.
