Special Features:

This Founders Selection is a single-cask release from the peated Man O'Sword range. Distilled in 2016, the whisky matured for seven years in refill ex-bourbon cask 361 and was bottled at cask strength in 2023 at 60.9%. It retains its natural colour and was not chill-filtered.

The refill bourbon cask exerts a restrained influence, allowing the smoky, peaty character of the spirit to remain at the forefront. Apple and pear provide bright fruit, while vanilla and caramel add sweetness; pepper and delicate minerality create distinctive contrasts.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, intense smoke combines with apple and pear, alongside sweet vanilla and caramel.
• Palate: On the palate, spicy peat and pepper meet creamy, sweet notes of vanilla and caramel.
• Finish: The finish is long and smoky, accompanied by a delicate mineral note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Annandale distilled the whisky, matured it in cask 361 and bottled it as an official distillery release. Since October 2022, the distillery has had its own bottling hall on site, allowing distillation, maturation and bottling to remain in one place.

The historic distillery near Annan was established between 1830 and 1836 and closed in 1918. Professor David Thomson and Teresa Church restored the distillery, which resumed production on 9 November 2014. Dr Jim Swan designed the new plant with two spirit stills.

Annandale matures its whiskies cask by cask and bottles the whisky from each cask separately, without vatting different single casks together. Man O'Words is the unpeated range inspired by Robert Burns, while Man O'Sword, named after Robert the Bruce, represents the peated style.
