Special Features:

This Founders Selection bottling combines the peated spirit of the Man O' Sword range with seven years of maturation in Oloroso Sherry Butt number 520. Distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2023, the Lowland single malt was released at a cask strength of 61.1%. It was neither chill-filtered nor coloured, allowing the influence of the large sherry cask—with dried fruit, dark chocolate, nuttiness and spices—to meet the powerful smoky character without alteration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, intense dried fruit and sherry sweetness meet spices and a distinct smoky note. Dark chocolate and light woody notes complete the aromatic profile.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet sherry aromas and baked fruit combine with spices and smoke. Toffee and almonds add further depth to the flavour.
• Finish: The long, warming finish remains spicy and nutty. Dried dark berries, delicate smoke and a saline, mineral note linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1836, Annandale Distillery resumed distillation on 9 November 2014 after a production hiatus of around 90 years and an extensive restoration. Since then, the peated Man O' Sword bottlings have complemented the unpeated Man O' Words range; the whiskies mature cask by cask and are released as individual distillery bottlings. For this expression, Annandale produced the peated spirit and bottled the matured whisky itself.
