Its name, pronounced [Uigeadail], means "dark, mysterious place" in Gaelic and refers to the water source Loch Uigeadail, which is significant for the distillery. Tasting Notes:

• Nose: A captivating mix of warm Christmas cake, walnut oil, and violet, blended with fresh sea air and the aroma of cedar and pine needles. A smoldering coal fire and the deep scent of well-oiled leather bring warmth to the scene.
• Palate: Opulent and heavy, with smoky-rich flavors. Initially sweet like a Christmas cake on the tongue, then winter spices explode in a smoky-spicy manner. A magnificent heart note of honey-glazed smoked meats and thick molasses holds its ground. Waves of deep smoky tones and opulent flavors build on the tongue like a fine Habanos cigar.
• Finish: An astonishingly long and chewy aftertaste with lingering deep notes of mocha, raisins, and an opulent aromatic smoke.

Distillery/Bottler: The Ardbeg Distillery, founded in 1815, is located on the southern coast of the Scottish island of Islay. It is known for its intense, smoky, and peaty whiskies. After several closures and reopenings, Ardbeg was acquired by Glenmorangie PLC in 1997 and taken over by Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) in 2004.
